4th Edition of OBSIDIAN Conference
On 26-27 September, the fourth edition of the OBSIDIAN international conference ‘Plant Productivity and Food Safety: Microbiology, Soil Science, Food Quality and Agricultural Genetics’ was held at the Faculty of Biological and Veterinary Sciences and the Faculty of Earth and Spatial Sciences of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. This year's meeting, which was hybrid for the first time, brought together a total of 180 participants from 27 countries such as Albania, Argentina, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Brazil, Croatia, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, India, Iran, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Poland, South Africa, Spain, Tanzania, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey and the United Kingdom.
During the two intensive days of the conference, there were 26 oral presentations and 54 scientific posters presented, covering a wide range of topics related to food safety, microbiology, genetics and soil science. The event not only enabled the exchange of the latest research results, but also strengthened international collaboration between scientists and industry experts.
Organised at a high level of excellence, the conference provided a unique platform to share experiences and discuss new challenges facing agriculture and the food industry in the face of changing climatic conditions and the needs of global food markets. The conference was held as part of the activities of the members of Emerging Field OBSIDIAN.
