    Fourth Edition of International Conference

PLANT PRODUCTIVITY AND FOOD SAFETY: MICROBIOLOGY, SOIL SCIENCE, FOOD QUALITY AND AGRICULTURAL GENETICS

26th -27th  September 2024

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

We are pleased to announce that the fourth edition of Plant Productivity and Food Safety: Microbiology, Soil Science, Food Quality and Agricultural Genetics conference in this year will take place in hybrid format. Therefore, we would like to invite you to participate in a form that is convenient for you - in person or remote. The conference will take place on 26th -27th  September 2024 in Toruń. It is worth to notice that participation in the conference is free of charge (no conference fee). Following the great success of the previous three online editions, this year's conference offers a unique opportunity to participate both in person (which we strongly encourage you to do!) and remotely, providing extensive access to the knowledge and experience of researchers from all over the world.

The conference will feature four thematic Sessions I-IV, focusing on key issues in the field of natural sciences:

I. Plant-Microorganisms Interactions in Agriculture and Ecosystem Management – This session will delve into the mechanisms of microorganism-plant interactions, analysing both the benefits these interactions bring and the potential risks. We will discuss the latest discoveries in symbiosis, pathogenesis, and biocontrol.

II. Plant Metabolism and Signalling – We will focus on metabolic processes in plants and the signalling systems that regulate their growth, development, and stress responses. Additionally, we will cover the topic of plant hormones and their role in adapting to changing environmental conditions.

III. Soil Threats and Security – This session will address key threats to soil health, such as chemical contamination, erosion, and structural degradation. We will also present innovative methods for soil protection and remediation, which can ensure their long-term security and fertility.

IV. The Global Problem of Salinity - An Interdisciplinary Approach – We will analyse the causes and effects of soil salinity, a significant challenge for agriculture worldwide. Strategies for managing salinity and technologies that can help mitigate its negative impacts on crops will be presented.

We are honoured to host six distinguished speakers, recognized authorities in their fields, who will share their unique insights and research findings with you.

Keynote Lecturer

  • Stéphane Compant Assos. Prof. Senior scientist at AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, Austria

Presentation Title: "Multipartite interactions within the plant holobiont and                                impacts on plant growth and health"

Presentation Title: “Urban soil health: Problematics and methodology for                                     assessment”.

Session IV. The Global Problem of Salinity - An Interdisciplinary Approach

  • Kate Negacz, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Science, Environmental Policy Analysis, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Netherlands

Presentation Title: "Addressing food security and sustainability through saline                            agriculture"

  • Ian Dodd, Professor, Lancaster Environment Centre, Lancaster University, UK

Presentation Title: "Roots to salinity tolerance: local and long-distance phytohormone              signalling"

Therefore, we warmly encourage people from all over the world to join our conference. Whether you choose to participate in person or remotely, we guarantee access to top-quality knowledge, inspiring lectures, and the opportunity to establish valuable professional connections. Our conference is not only a scientific meeting but also a platform for global collaboration and exchange of experiences, making it a truly exceptional event.

We look forward to meeting you on September 26 - 27, 2024.

We cordially invite you to the historic city of Toruń, where Nicolaus Copernicus was born. Toruń belongs to the group of Hanzeatic cities. Our motto is: ‘Gothic to the touch’. Come and see. We look forward to seeing you in Toruń!
