Workshop on the application of analytics and FTIR microscopy in environmental research

2024-03-18

On March  15, 2024, a scientific seminar and workshop titled "The whole world in (sub)red - the application of analytics and FTIR microscopy in environmental protection, earth sciences and biological research" was held.

The lecture session was chaired by Prof. Piotr Hulisz, - Head of the Laboratory of Environmental Analysis at WNOZIGP UMK. The series of presentations was started by Bartłomiej Koźniewski, PhD (Pro-Environment Polska Sp. z o.o.), with his lecture "From the macro world to sub-micro analyses - infrared spectroscopy in the service of environmental researchers". During the seminar, the research results on allotment garden soils in the context of their contamination with microplastics (speaker - Prof. Dr. Piotr Hulisz) and the role of microorganisms in the fight against plastic contamination (speaker - Mariusz Wróbel, MA) were also presented.

After the coffee break, a specialised workshop on analytics and FTIR microscopy was led by Bartłomiej Koźniewski, PhD (Pro-Environment Polska Sp. z o.o.) and consisted  of the following thematic groups: on analyses of - biological samples, clay minerals, microplastics in environmental samples and soil organic matter. The event was attended by about 40 participants from all over the country.

 The workshop and seminar was organised in collaboration with:

-Emerging Field IDUB "Soil science, microbiology, agricultural genetics and food quality" OBSIDIAN;

- Environmental Analysis Laboratory of the Faculty of Earth and Spatial Sciences, UMK;

- Pro-Environment Polska Sp. z o.o. official distributor of PerkinElmer;
